Obama had plenty to say about Egypt and Mubarek, but on Libya and its lovable dictator Mumar Ghadafi he's strangely silent. He seems to favor anyone who doesn't like the West. It looks to me like we have an anti-American president. He doesn't seem to stand for freedom, that is, in any country whose leader is an enemy of the West.
There is more turmoil than usual around the world lately and it seems he likes it that way. He's doing nothing to lend stability to anything here or abroad. I'd say he's incompetent but it looks to me like he's doing it on purpose. I don't believe he's stupid. No one can be wrong all the time unless he's trying, so that leaves me with words like saboteur and traitor. He took an oath to uphold, protect, and defend the constitution, but it appears he doesn't believe in it. He declared the other day that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional so his administration will refuse to enforce the law. Since when was it the place of the executive branch to make such decisions? That is up to the courts. Our commander-in-chief is an outlaw.

Three Cheers for Joel Northrup!
Nowadays it takes a 15-year-old boy to give us a reality check. He forfeited his first-round Iowa state wrestling tournament match this week because he was matched-up against a girl. Gentlemen still exist!
When I played hockey in the 1970's feminism was going full-steam ahead, but girls were not allowed to play full-contact sports with boys for their own safety. Since then our society has gone insane.
I'm for women tearing-down silly stereotypes. For instance, what's wrong with a woman driving a truck, or a race car, or being a plumber, or a mechanic, or a building contractor, or a doctor? These professions have historically been male-dominated and there's no good reason for it, but we're going too far.
Now it's about pitting men and women against each other and destroying what being a gentleman is all about, which is the lynch pin of any strong society. The powers that be want men to regard women as no different in any way other than in sexual terms. Not in my world, and apparently not in Joel Northrup's either. I have no doubt this young man will go far in this life. He can look back on this for the rest of his life knowing he did the right thing.

Mubarek Steps Down Today
Young Egyptians in the crowd were shouting "We are free!" Are they? Will they be? For now at least the army is in charge. To me that doesn't sound good. I know Egypt hasn't been a free republic they way the West knows them to be, but I never heard the American media celebrating the potential birth of a military dictatorship before, but they did today. They were downright ecstatic. This looks like a step backwards to me, but what do I know? My Pinto got wrecked so they gave me a Yugo. Let's celebrate!
What if the Muslim Brotherhood becomes the ruling political party? They've already killed two Egyptian presidents and they're very cozy with Hammas, and about 4 of 5 Egyptians think Hammas is O.K. To call them peaceful and tolerant is really, really, stretching it. Is that progress?
Ladies, what do you think about that? Why do I hear almost no women speaking on this subject? It's as if it's too horrible for Western women to think about the fact there are hundreds of millions of women in dozens of countries who have no rights and must live under their husband's thumb like it's 800 A.D. because of their nation's religion and customs. Instead, they pretend they don't exist while voting for people who help these Islamist types. Talk about head-scratchers! Islamist types don't believe in equal opportunity for women. Not by a long shot!
This is the sort of thing that makes me believe the mainstream press is anti-Semitic. Imagine if it were the other way around. Israel has the same president for 30 years, he becomes very unpopular, and protesters in the streets demand his immediate resignation. So he steps down, leaving the military in charge, and the most radical right-wing party in Israel looks like it will take over. Can you imagine the press cheering for that? I can't. That's why I can't escape thinking the press and this administration are Jew haters, or Israel haters at the very least.
Apparently they're not thinking about the fact Egypt controls the Suez canal, which is critical to both regional and worldwide trade. The implications are very far-reaching. The most obvious would be the price of gas escalating to several times what it costs now if radical Islamists gain control of the Suez canal. That is, of course, if we stick to our foolish policy of not allowing the expansion of domestic oil production, but that's a subject for another time.

Egyptian "President" Mubarek Stepping Down
I guess this is a good thing. It depends on what sort of government replaces him. I'm not defending him. Anyone who calls himself a "president" for thirty years is not a president as we know presidents to be. I've noticed throughout my life that communist and many Arab countries have "presidents" who are in office an awfully long time and don't face the voters like any republic would expect them to. Egypt and Cuba are two of the best examples I can think of. Hugo Chavez of Venezuela is a newcomer in this, taking office democratically then stripping his parliament of all power until he is the undisputed ruler for as long as he likes. At the same time he began taking over his country's industries and is destroying their economy in the process. He began as a man of the people and now the people are afraid of him. The only real difference between Chavez and Fidel Castro is he took total power in stages. Castro did it all at once. Let that be a lesson to all. If there are any non-communist or non-Arab countries who have "presidents" who stay in office for decades please bring it to my attention. At this point in my life I believe these are the most dishonest governments in the world.
As for the current situation in Egypt, our administration is all over the map. Depending whether you listen to the president, his cabinet members, or his White House spokesman, the administration wants Mubarek to stay in power until reforms can be enacted, long enough for there to be an orderly election process, or he should step down right away. Egypt does have a constitution and it was reported that another election needs to take place before Mubarek steps down.
This administration is very weak in the area of foreign policy, something we can't afford these days. I'm generally not in favor of deep foreign entanglements as our founding fathers warned us about, but on the other hand this world is getting smaller and more dangerous by the day. Due to this, forging and maintaining alliances with countries that are interested in free societies, free trade, and common defense needs to be maintained. Our founders, wise and well-intentioned as they were, with a constant eye on maintaining liberty, didn't imagine jets, missiles, and nuclear weapons.
I suspect Obama wants there to be an Islamist government in Egypt. He seems to like radical Islamists and doesn't like Jews, England, or the United States for that matter. He seems to view the United States as a colonial power, which is ridiculous. Colonial powers, like the British Empire, occupied the countries they colonized and granted them few rights. The United States has never done this, but he seems to view both America and Britain in the same negative light.
From the beginning I've wanted to believe the best in him, but knowing about his radical associations and mentors, what's in the books he's written, his patterning his life after his father, and identifying himself with several self-proclaimed communists, I can only worry. I suspect he doesn't want the American people to know that he'd be happy if Egypt becomes much more like Iran politically. In defense of his father, I can understand him not liking colonial powers, since he came from Kenya, a former British colony, but his favoring communism is jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Obama seeming to favor Islamists over Jews, particularly Israel, is a real head scratcher for me. There are many who think Jews control our whole banking system and economy, which I think is ridiculous. Jews are only 4% of the American population, so if they're really running the show what does that say about the rest of us? If that is true, that means 4% run the other 96%, so that would mean Jews are actually far superior to everyone else so they deserve to be in charge.
I can't help being logical, folks. With a scientific background it's something I can't avoid. I respect my profession and real science, so I apply the same logic to all areas of life, except maybe motorcycles and women. That is where I allow my emotions do the talking. Anything that is worth believing should be able to withstand honest scrutiny. That's why even though I was raised to be a union Democrat I no longer believe much of what I was taught when I was young. Once I was married, had a family, and began paying attention to current events, governmental affairs, and my life's experiences, it all began chipping away at almost everything I believed. As a result, my collectivist indoctrination dissolved like a sugar cube in the rain.

Businesses need to work with the government?
Our illustrious president said the other day that business needs to work with government to bring prosperity to all. I'm paraphrasing but that's the gist of it. At the same time GM is stealing taxpayer money to give themselves bonuses. Ah, business and government working together. Wholesale graft, anyone? Blatant violation of the constitution, anyone?
This guy makes me so sick it's gotten to the point I can't spend much time on anything he says or does. He is the worst constitutional violator we've ever had in the White House. He is drilling holes in our nation's bedrock and blasting away with C-4. Rather than continue to attempt to lead us all down the road to ruin he should be looking at a calendar, counting the days he has left in office. This is a one-term president. You can bank on it.
He's nothing but a racketeer. The last president was kind of dumb but at least he wasn't an arrogant crook like this schmuck. Oh, by the way, the recession, according to the government, has been over since last year. Anyone believe that? Wanna buy a swamp?

Congrats to the Packers
I picked the Packers to win this game 26-22. The game went pretty much like I thought it would, the biggest exception being the score didn't stay close throughout the game. The Packers were starting to run away with it in the first half and the Steelers deserve credit for getting back in the game and almost winning. That last offensive series for Pittsburgh was awful, though. That series was a huge whiff on the largest stage in all of sports. The other thing I didn't foresee was all the dropped passes by Green Bay. If not for those it would have been lights-out sooner.
Pittsburgh has some re-loading to do. They're not going to win another championship with that average offensive line and receiver corps. Big Ben also needs to cool it with the interceptions. He's been throwing quite a few lately, but I'll blame that (for now) on his offensive line that is clearly not up to Pittsburgh's usual standards. This also prevented the Steelers from running the ball effectively against the Packers which is what they really needed to do. That was the key to Pittsburgh winning, in my humble opinion. They also failed to take advantage of the Packers' other weakness, which is kick coverage.
The thing is there is so much parity today no team is without flaws. Every team is so-so or worse at certain positions. Every team can either be run on, passed on, their offense stinks to one degree or another, or they can't cover kicks. New England and Indy didn't defend well all year. Baltimore finally has an offense but their defense is fading. The Saints offense isn't as potent as it was last year and their defense is getting downright ordinary. At least the games are close as a result, but I'd rather have the days of dynasties when certain teams were good top-to-bottom. I think those teams will be the most remembered.
Now, if the Bills can only get it together next year, if there is a season at all. Yeah, I'm wishing for a lot, aren't I?

Hi, folks!
This is my first blog attempt. I'm a somewhat ordinary guy who no longer recognizes his country. I grew-up during the 60's and 70's so I'm used to changes. Trouble is, nowadays most of the changes are bad! I'm not always sure what the truth is, but I know we're being lied to wholesale in order to control us in every way imaginable. When I see or hear examples of it I will write about it here.
I invite you all to help me figure out what the truth is on various subjects. It is my belief that truth must be discovered before we can figure out what should be done to address whatever issue we're discussing. Anyone with reasoned points to make and solid evidence to bring to the table is welcome. I don't want this blog to be a home for ideologues to rant with no solid evidence to support their claims. I have no agenda other than securing a future of opportunity and liberty for my children and future generations. To me that is what makes a person's life meaningful. I don't want my liberties stripped-away and I definitely don't want that for my children. I hope you feel the same.
I'm a novice at this but I will learn fast how to neutralize those who are trying to undermine my purpose here. I am at a point in my life where I can spot manipulators and bullshit artists very quickly so don't think you can play me. I am not nearly as gullible as I once was as life is teaching me a lot. Whether you admire Lanny Davis or William Buckley you must bring honest, heartfelt, sincere arguments to the table. Anyone who does otherwise will be noticed quickly and you will suffer the light of truth in short order.
There may be times when I'm not posting for awhile. Other times I may post frequently. I'm a busy guy with a job, family, girlfriend, house, cats, birds, and I love to ride motorcycles. I've been on my own since I was 21 so I don't have much sympathy for 30-somethings whining about everything from Mom's basement. If you have little life experience I don't want you to feel you're not welcome but you should be asking questions, not making proclamations.
Since the United States is still a free republic it is our job as citizens to run our government, not the other way around as too many seem to believe. We get the government we deserve, in other words. Government is like a car. If you pay attention to it and take good care of it, it will serve you well. If all you do is put gas in it and drive, before long it will run like crap, if it will run at all. Sadly, over the past century or so that is what we have done.
We are victims of our own success. Life has been so good for so many for so long in America we've become complacent. As a result, most of us don't pay enough attention to our government and have allowed it to run amok, leaving our kids with $14 trillion in debt that's mounting by the minute. This is immoral from any decent person's point-of-view. Children, tots, babies, and the unborn can't vote yet but they're being buried in debt. That is taxation without representation. That is why we rebelled against King George III. Every generation must pay its own way, end of story.
Many of us believe we are powerless to change things as everything is rigged. I hope to change those peoples' minds as I've seen the people use their power several times in my life and it worked. We simply don't speak-up in large majority often enough. We need to pay more attention, pull-in the reins and remind our leaders who's boss if this nation is to survive. Until 90% of them don't keep getting re-elected they won't believe us, nor should they. Rather than look ahead and oppose damaging measures in large numbers before things get out-of-hand, we wait until there's a crisis before we speak-up. By paying more attention it's easier to keep our government on the right track before things get to a crisis level.
Sadly, at this time we don't have that luxury. We inherited a huge and ever-growing federal government, and in many cases huge state governments, with huge, ever-growing debt, so we have to dig ourselves, and the past two or three generations out. That is why I believe even if we are successful, my generation will be the first not to do better than our parents financially. We must be willing to make that sacrifice to ensure this nation's survival. If all we do is maintain the status quo, I will outlive this nation, and I don't want that to happen. Again, I hope you feel the same.
Governmental affairs are dirty and nasty. It's always been that way. I pay attention not because I like to, (it's disgusting quite frankly) but because it's my civic duty, as it is yours. In past centuries political candidates would accuse each other of all kinds of horrible things, anything from deliberately being in league with the Devil to being inbred. Some of these heated political rivalries ended in duels, the most famous of which was Aaron Burr killing Alexander Hamilton.
That is why I cringe when I hear politicians, media, and academic types calling for toning-down the rhetoric and even sponsoring legislation, empowering an already too large and aggressive federal government to do exactly that. All they're trying to do is stifle debate so they can continue to strip our liberties away. Once our liberties are gone it takes thousands of gallons of blood to bring them back, and I don't want that to happen. I revere all those who fought, bled, and died to bring us our precious freedoms and I don't want that hard-fought liberty to be wasted.
If a Democrat or Republican administration is going too far I'm going to speak-up no matter what. I've written scathing letters to members of both parties over the years and I'm not about to stop now. I support, uphold, and defend all of our constitutional rights, as all of our elected representatives swear to do but most don't. I don't pick and choose. I understand that eroding constitutional rights hurts everyone in the long run.
I believe even though our founding fathers couldn't foresee the rapid technological revolution the next two centuries would bring and the fact some of them were slave owners, when it comes to how to create a government that protects freedom and opportunity for the masses they were far wiser than generations that followed. They lived under an autocrat. We don't. Shortly after the American Revolution we began to stray from our founding principles. Thomas Jefferson wrote about his concerns about federal judges ignoring the letter of the law and making politically expedient rulings shortly before he died. It doesn't take long for people to forget, and that is my purpose here.
Now that slavery and segregation are in the rear-view mirror minorities stream into our country, legally and illegally. That should tell us all how good it is to live here. Immigration has helped this country immeasurably over the years and I support it, but I want us to know who's coming here and what their background is, so I want to expand legal immigration and shut the door on illegal immigration permanently. A nation that doesn't protect its borders ceases to exist. Don't try to tell me it's not doable. Every other civilized country can, and does.
I don't see a mass exodus of American blacks back to Africa. They have more opportunity here and they are accepted, at least as far as I'm concerned. I don't care where your father is from or what color he is. I was raised to be colorblind. Thank my Mom for that. That is why I reject the term "African-American" the way that it is used. That term is accurate only for a small number of immigrants, like Christian Okoye, a running back who used to play for the Chiefs who moved here from Nigeria. He is an African-American. The same term would be accurate for a white South African golfer who moves to the United States. See where I'm going with this? Most people who are called "African-Americans" were born here, so the term doesn't apply. They are as American as me, or anyone else who was born here, regardless of heritage. They are being used as political pawns, and it is my hope there is a special corner in hell for those who play this evil and divisive strategy.
I have Catholics, Protestants, Jews, and Atheists in my family. If a Jewish American Army Lieutenant hadn't married a French widow with three kids and brought them to the United States I wouldn't be typing this. He suffered much religious intolerance from his family but he didn't care because he loved her. Only his sister communicated with us, so she's the only other member of his family I ever knew. He was a very intelligent, kind and decent man who devoured books like they were going out of style and worked for the post office. I miss you, Sam. He died at 59 of another of many heart attacks, none of which he sought medical treatment for. The coroner told my grandmother he never saw that much scar tissue on a man's heart before. He lost count of the number of attacks as his heart was literally covered with scar tissue. He had at least 56 heart attacks before he died. It wasn't until after he died we realized when he would all of a sudden become very quiet and retreat to his favorite chair and read for several hours that he was recovering from a heart attack. Even though he had a slight build and wasn't tall or physically strong, he remains one of the toughest guys I've ever known.
As a result I have little tolerance for religious intolerance. People are people, good, bad, and indifferent. They come in all colors, shapes, and sizes. I just want you to take care of yourself and your family and stay out of trouble. Is that too much to ask? I hope you feel the same about that, too.
I also respect the English language. Like government, it's our language and it's our duty to master it and pass it along to future generations. I don't use spell-checkers, not that I'm against them, it's just that I know they're still not reliable. I invite all to post in coherent, well-structured English. If you can't accomplish that, I'd rather you brush-up and return later. Butchered English will be roundly criticized here, so be forewarned. Honest mistakes are tolerated, so don't think you have to be perfect, just show me you're trying!
In conclusion, if what I laid-out appeals to you, let's rock!

I don't want my liberties stripped-away and I definitely don't want that for my children. I hope you feel the same.
I'm a novice at this but I will learn fast how to neutralize those who are trying to undermine my purpose here. I am at a point in my life where I can spot manipulators and bullshit artists very quickly so don't think you can play me. I am not nearly as gullible as I once was as life is teaching me a lot. Whether you admire Lanny Davis or William Buckley you must bring honest, heartfelt, sincere arguments to the table. Anyone who does otherwise will be noticed quickly and you will suffer the light of truth in short order.
There may be times when I'm not posting for awhile. Other times I may post frequently. I'm a busy guy with a job, family, girlfriend, house, cats, birds, and I love to ride motorcycles. I've been on my own since I was 21 so I don't have much sympathy for 30-somethings whining about everything from Mom's basement. If you have little life experience I don't want you to feel you're not welcome but you should be asking questions, not making proclamations.
Since the United States is still a free republic it is our job as citizens to run our government, not the other way around as too many seem to believe. We get the government we deserve, in other words. Government is like a car. If you pay attention to it and take good care of it, it will serve you well. If all you do is put gas in it and drive, before long it will run like crap, if it will run at all. Sadly, over the past century or so that is what we have done.
We are victims of our own success. Life has been so good for so many for so long in America we've become complacent. As a result, most of us don't pay enough attention to our government and have allowed it to run amok, leaving our kids with $14 trillion in debt that's mounting by the minute. This is immoral from any decent person's point-of-view. Children, tots, babies, and the unborn can't vote yet but they're being buried in debt. That is taxation without representation. That is why we rebelled against King George III. Every generation must pay its own way, end of story.
Many of us believe we are powerless to change things as everything is rigged. I hope to change those peoples' minds as I've seen the people use their power several times in my life and it worked. We simply don't speak-up in large majority often enough. We need to pay more attention, pull-in the reins and remind our leaders who's boss if this nation is to survive. Until 90% of them don't keep getting re-elected they won't believe us, nor should they. Rather than look ahead and oppose damaging measures in large numbers before things get out-of-hand, we wait until there's a crisis before we speak-up. By paying more attention it's easier to keep our government on the right track before things get to a crisis level.
Sadly, at this time we don't have that luxury. We inherited a huge and ever-growing federal government, and in many cases huge state governments, with huge, ever-growing debt, so we have to dig ourselves, and the past two or three generations out. That is why I believe even if we are successful, my generation will be the first not to do better than our parents financially. We must be willing to make that sacrifice to ensure this nation's survival. If all we do is maintain the status quo, I will outlive this nation, and I don't want that to happen. Again, I hope you feel the same.
Governmental affairs are dirty and nasty. It's always been that way. I pay attention not because I like to, (it's disgusting quite frankly) but because it's my civic duty, as it is yours. In past centuries political candidates would accuse each other of all kinds of horrible things, anything from deliberately being in league with the Devil to being inbred. Some of these heated political rivalries ended in duels, the most famous of which was Aaron Burr killing Alexander Hamilton.
That is why I cringe when I hear politicians, media, and academic types calling for toning-down the rhetoric and even sponsoring legislation, empowering an already too large and aggressive federal government to do exactly that. All they're trying to do is stifle debate so they can continue to strip our liberties away. Once our liberties are gone it takes thousands of gallons of blood to bring them back, and I don't want that to happen. I revere all those who fought, bled, and died to bring us our precious freedoms and I don't want that hard-fought liberty to be wasted.
If a Democrat or Republican administration is going too far I'm going to speak-up no matter what. I've written scathing letters to members of both parties over the years and I'm not about to stop now. I support, uphold, and defend all of our constitutional rights, as all of our elected representatives swear to do but most don't. I don't pick and choose. I understand that eroding constitutional rights hurts everyone in the long run.
I believe even though our founding fathers couldn't foresee the rapid technological revolution the next two centuries would bring and the fact some of them were slave owners, when it comes to how to create a government that protects freedom and opportunity for the masses they were far wiser than generations that followed. They lived under an autocrat. We don't. Shortly after the American Revolution we began to stray from our founding principles. Thomas Jefferson wrote about his concerns about federal judges ignoring the letter of the law and making politically expedient rulings shortly before he died. It doesn't take long for people to forget, and that is my purpose here.
Now that slavery and segregation are in the rear-view mirror minorities stream into our country, legally and illegally. That should tell us all how good it is to live here. Immigration has helped this country immeasurably over the years and I support it, but I want us to know who's coming here and what their background is, so I want to expand legal immigration and shut the door on illegal immigration permanently. A nation that doesn't protect its borders ceases to exist. Don't try to tell me it's not doable. Every other civilized country can, and does.
I don't see a mass exodus of American blacks back to Africa. They have more opportunity here and they are accepted, at least as far as I'm concerned. I don't care where your father is from or what color he is. I was raised to be colorblind. Thank my Mom for that. That is why I reject the term "African-American" the way that it is used. That term is accurate only for a small number of immigrants, like Christian Okoye, a running back who used to play for the Chiefs who moved here from Nigeria. He is an African-American. The same term would be accurate for a white South African golfer who moves to the United States. See where I'm going with this? Most people who are called "African-Americans" were born here, so the term doesn't apply. They are as American as me, or anyone else who was born here, regardless of heritage. They are being used as political pawns, and it is my hope there is a special corner in hell for those who play this evil and divisive strategy.
I have Catholics, Protestants, Jews, and Atheists in my family. If a Jewish American Army Lieutenant hadn't married a French widow with three kids and brought them to the United States I wouldn't be typing this. He suffered much religious intolerance from his family but he didn't care because he loved her. Only his sister communicated with us, so she's the only other member of his family I ever knew. He was a very intelligent, kind and decent man who devoured books like they were going out of style and worked for the post office. I miss you, Sam. He died at 59 of another of many heart attacks, none of which he sought medical treatment for. The coroner told my grandmother he never saw that much scar tissue on a man's heart before. He lost count of the number of attacks as his heart was literally covered with scar tissue. He had at least 56 heart attacks before he died. It wasn't until after he died we realized when he would all of a sudden become very quiet and retreat to his favorite chair and read for several hours that he was recovering from a heart attack. Even though he had a slight build and wasn't tall or physically strong, he remains one of the toughest guys I've ever known.
As a result I have little tolerance for religious intolerance. People are people, good, bad, and indifferent. They come in all colors, shapes, and sizes. I just want you to take care of yourself and your family and stay out of trouble. Is that too much to ask? I hope you feel the same about that, too.
I also respect the English language. Like government, it's our language and it's our duty to master it and pass it along to future generations. I don't use spell-checkers, not that I'm against them, it's just that I know they're still not reliable. I invite all to post in coherent, well-structured English. If you can't accomplish that, I'd rather you brush-up and return later. Butchered English will be roundly criticized here, so be forewarned. Honest mistakes are tolerated, so don't think you have to be perfect, just show me you're trying!
In conclusion, if what I laid-out appeals to you, let's rock!
